me and aunt elizabeth
she came to visit this weekend and we had a lot of fun. i often got confused because she sounds just like my mom.
we did all sorts of things while she was here....went shopping on capitol hill, had tea at Remedy teas, went to the fremont and ballard markets as well as the boutiques on those areas and went to dinner at wild ginger. fun!

i love bath time
i really love bath time. dad gives me most of my baths and we have a lot of fun! he likes to cover me in cloths so that i don't get cold.
[enter mom] i think olivia is going to be a water baby. she loves taking baths and she also didn't cry when we went into the swimming pool which was kinda cold. i wonder if all my swimming while i was pregnant had anything to do with it.
i will say this though,. olivia makes it very hard for us to clean her neck in the bath. and it has been getting really red and manky of late.

My first snowshoe trip
Yesterday, I went on my first snowshoe trip with mom and dad. It was pretty cool. I slept most of the time, but I did get to see the snow for a bit. The sun was shining which was nice. I had not seen it in some time....
[enter mom] This trip was awesome. We went to Price Creek and snowshoed up to a reservoir. There were not as many people as we expected and it was cool to get out in the snow when the weather was so beautiful. Olivia was a champ. I reckon next time we will take a longer hike. This trip was about 2-3 miles round trip...
[enter dad] It was surprisingly easy to snowshoe while wearing Olivia. It helped that she slept most of the time, and that the Ergo carrier is super comfy. I'm glad I didn't drop her - it might have been hard to find her in the snow, with her white suit and white skin. It would have been a search for a pair of little blue eyes.

i had a lot of fun on friday night. Lincoln and his parents came over. There seemed to be a lot of laughing going on which makes me happy. Though, i was not acting very happy. In fact, I was having a bit of a meltdown when they arrived, but I managed to pull myself together for dinner.
It was fun having our dads hold lincoln and me.

mom's kisses are nice
mom really likes to get up in my grill with her kisses. i sometimes play it cool, but deep down i love them....[enter mom] i am in a new phase of where all i want to do is kiss on olivia's soft cheeks. seriously, it's like having an addiction. and when she smiles and laughs after one of them, my heart melts.

i feel like i am looking quite serious is in this photo, but that's because i am feeling very adult. here i am, kickin' it in my green bumbo and sitting up! i have a hot and cold relationship wtih my bumbo. i do like that dad massages my feet when i am in it.
[enter mom] we love the green bumbo. we often sit her in front of a mirror and let her chill in it. it helps her work on her back/neck strength as well as balance.
we have also been using the gymini a lot to encourage her to reach for things. she seems to love the squeaky wings of the parrot and the long legs of the giraffe. she understands what it means to reach for something, but she does not always grab it. it's crazy to think that we had to learn all of this!

i heart michael cera
i have been a bit of a pill at the movies the last 2 times we went. however, today, something changed. i slept the whole time. maybe it was because michael cera was on the big screen with his ridiculously cute voice. major crush alert!
[enter mom] i second that! my goodness...i feel like he has come out of nowhere with his cuteness. sure, his character george michael bluth is pretty special, but in both superbad and juno he has taken it up a notch.
and is it weird for me to think to myself while watching juno...i wish i had gotten pregnant at 16 and then to think...maybe olivia will! Kidding....well sorta ;)

me and sleepy bear
i love my sleepy bear. i pulled him up nice and close for my nap.
[enter mom] i wasn't there for this, but apparently, she grabbed sleepy bear and positioned him like so without any help from me or mike. mike took several photos which i have uploaded to flickr.

i got some christmas spirit
i sure do have a lot of christmas spirit. mom thought it would be fun to take some photos with a snowflake/antler hat on my head. as you can see, i am not so sure what to make of it.

ummm...florida is nice (and flying is ok, too)
I must say, I really like the weather in Florida. It was sunny and 78 degrees the entire time. Mom and Dad had me either naked or in a diaper for most of the trip (except for when we went to the beach where the sun felt quite strong). They had set me up in something that resembled my cosleeper out by the pool, but wasn't. It was nice to be able to hang next to them whenever we sat outside. Mom sure does like to sunbathe, but her skin never seems to really change color. And dad seems to be scared of the sun a bit. He's as white as I am. Mom took me into the pool and it was very chilly, but I didn't cry.
Grumpus and G-Ma have an amazing pool with a small waterfall and I found that to be very relaxing. In fact, I took long naps which was unusual for me.
In this pic, mom has set me up on my boppy facing the waterfall. I liked chillaxin' by the pool and watching mom and dad play in the water. Mom also went into the hot tub a lot. Dad would take me over to her, but the steam was a bit much for me.
Oh, and flying is not so bad. I managed to keep my cool most of the trip. The descent into Fort Meyers was tough on my ears, but mom and dad got me sucking on their fingers which helped a lot. Airports are crazy places. It all seemed very chaotic with lots of people and noises. I think the noise helped me stay chill.
[enter mom] I definitely think the warm vacations with babe are fabulous. It was so nice to not have to worry about whether or not she was warm enough. We only dealt with clothes for her at night. It's amazing how much we bundle her up in Seattle. And it seemed to be good for her skin to get some vitamin d. seattle is brutal with the lack of sunlight.
We also found that she napped for longer periods of time. We would saunter out to the pool around 11am and put her in her pack n' play and she would dose off and on for hours. We set it up so that she only ever got direct sunlight in the evenings. We went for a lot of long walks and saw alligators and herons. It felt great getting out in the warm weather and breaking quite a sweat while pushing the babe in the stroller.
We got a camcorder for christmas and will hopefully get those videos uploaded in the next few days.
And Olivia was so chill on the flights. We were both really surprised. She often hates being taken in and out of her car seat, but at the airport she didn't mind. I think it's because we didn't strap her into it once we took her out at security. She tended to get a bit fussy on the descent, but the key was getting her to nurse while we went down or fall asleep. Luckily, the one free seat on the plane was between me and mike, so it was great to have a 3 seats for the 3 of us. We just laid her down on the blanket and she slept a good chunk of the way.
Absolute must haves for traveling with babe include:
boppy - this not only made nursing comfortable on the plane, but it was great for her to sit on and give some relief to our arms
snap n' go stroller - not having to carry her while moving around in the airport was key
sleepy bear - nini gave olivia a small little bear and olivia found that bear to be very comforting.
changing pad - we were able change her in our seat (the middle seat was empty) as well as at the airport on the floor.
boob on the ready - being able to breastfeed at any point during the trip was critical for everyone's sanity
